Staring at charts is not a strategy
Here's the trap most traders fall into. You sit in front of 12 charts. You get tired. You miss the breakout on chart 9 because you were zoomed into chart 3. Then you revenge-trade to make up for it.
The problem was never your strategy. It's that you're a human trying to do a machine's job. Consistency across every chart, every timeframe, every night? No human has that. Software does.
What this setup actually is
This is Claude Code connected to your TradingView Desktop app through something called an MCP server (a small connector program). It's open source and free.
Once connected, Claude can see and control your actual TradingView charts. Not screenshots. Not delayed data. The real thing, live on your screen. You talk to it in plain English: "Watch BTC and NVDA for me. Flag anything important." And it does.
It reads charts like a pro analyst
The stuff you squint at for hours, Claude reads instantly:
Same rules. Every chart. Zero fatigue.
It spots setups you'd sleep through
Claude doesn't just throw signals at you. Every setup comes with a reason:
Not just a signal. A reason. That's the difference between this and every junk indicator you've ever paid for.
Every setup comes with a plan
No plan, no trade. Before you click anything, Claude does the math: entry, stop, target, position size based on your risk percentage, and the risk-to-reward ratio. If the numbers don't work, the setup dies right there. This alone puts you ahead of most retail traders.
It watches while you sleep
Twelve markets. All night. Alerts straight to your phone. "NVDA 4H breakout confirmed. Plan is ready." "BTC tested daily support and held. No action needed."
You were unconscious for both of these. The system wasn't.
It reviews your trades like a coach
After each trade, Claude grades it. Entry followed the plan? Good. Sold too early and left money on the table? It tells you, and it tells you what to do next time. Most traders never review a single trade. Now it's automatic, and the system gets smarter with every one.
It can also backtest a strategy idea against historical data in seconds, so you find out a strategy is garbage before it costs you real money.
The full workflow
The exact setup, step by step
You need three things: TradingView Desktop (free tier works to start), Node.js, and Claude Code. Then install the open-source connector:
The lazy way (recommended). Tell Claude Code: "Install the TradingView MCP server. Clone https://github.com/tradesdontlie/tradingview-mcp, run npm install, add it to my MCP config, and launch TradingView with the debug port."
Prefer to do it manually? Paste this into your terminal:
Then add it to your MCP config and launch TradingView Desktop with the debug port enabled (--remote-debugging-port=9222). The repo has launch scripts for Mac, Windows, and Linux that do this for you.
Verify it works. Tell Claude: "Use tv_health_check to confirm TradingView is connected." Then ask: "What's on my chart right now?"
The one rule that matters
This setup never trades your money. It scans, analyzes, confirms, protects, and alerts. Your phone pings. You decide. It's a second set of eyes with the same rules, on every chart, every time. Nothing more, and that's exactly why it works.
