“COPY” How to Turn Claude Into a God-Tier Copywriter (6 Books + Preference Learning)

Everybody knows Claude sucks at writing copy. It sounds like a LinkedIn post written by a committee. But that's not a talent problem. It's an inputs problem and a memory problem. Give Claude the right frameworks, the right books, and a way to remember your feedback, and it turns into the best copywriter you've ever worked with. Here's the exact system, and the free skill that runs it.

Why Claude's copy sucks (and it's not Claude's fault)

Two reasons.

One: it writes the average.Out of the box, Claude writes like the average of the internet. And the average of the internet is bad copy. It has never been told to think like Eugene Schwartz or Gary Halbert. So it doesn't.

Two: it has amnesia. You tell it "too salesy." It fixes it. You close the chat. Next week you ask for another email and it's too salesy again. Every lesson you teach it dies with the conversation.

Fix the first one with better inputs. Fix the second with preference learning. The copy skill does both.

Preference learning in 60 seconds

Here's how most people write copy with Claude. Claude writes something, you tweak it, you ship it. Every fix you made is gone. Now add one step.

Normal way
1. Copy2. Tweaks3. Final version
Preference learning
1. Copy2. Feedback3. Approved version4. Save

Claude writes the copy. You give feedback in the chat. It revises until you say "approved." Then it saves everything: what you liked, what you hated, the rules it should follow, and the final version you signed off on.

Next time you use the skill, it reads all of that before it writes a single word. It starts where you left off, not from zero.

HOW IT WORKS

How the copy skill works, step by step

STEP 1
“What type of copy are we writing today?”
Every session opens with that question. Not sure? It shows you a menu of the 17 jobs people use it for most, with an example for each.
STEP 2
It learns your business
First time only. It interviews you: your offer, your price, your customer, how you talk, your best testimonials. That gets saved as a brand profile. Running an agency? Make one per client.
STEP 3
It loads your preferences FIRST
Before the frameworks, before the books, it reads your saved rules and your last few approved pieces of the same type. Your taste beats the textbook. It even tells you what it remembers: “Here’s what I know about how you like your emails.”
STEP 4
It picks the strategy
How aware is your customer? How many times has your market heard this pitch? What’s the one belief they need to buy? It shows you the strategy in a few lines before it writes, so you can see why it’s doing what it’s doing.
STEP 5
It writes Version 1
Structured by format. Sales pages come in labeled sections. Emails come with subject lines, A/B variants, and send timing. Ads come with 10 headlines across different angles.
STEP 6
You give feedback. It learns.
This is the part that matters. Every note you give becomes a saved rule.

What it actually saves

Everything is plain text files on your computer. You can open them and read them.

01
Rules, with a scope
“Too salesy” becomes a rule. It asks if that applies to all your copy, one brand, or one type (like “subject lines under 5 words”). One-off notes like “mention the Friday deadline” don’t get saved.
02
Rules that get stronger
Say something once, it’s a strong default. Say it twice, it becomes a hard rule it never breaks.
03
Every approved piece
Plus a “what changed from Version 1” summary. That gap between what the AI wrote and what you approved is the most valuable data you have.
04
Lines you loved
It learns what good looks like for you, not just what to avoid.

After every approval you get a receipt:

Saved to your copy memory: - Approved welcome email saved as a reference example - 2 new rules: no questions as openers, P.S. under 2 lines - 1 rule confirmed: no hype words (seen 2x, now a hard rule) - 1 line saved to "Lines that landed" Say "forget [rule]" any time to remove one.
THE 6 BOOKS

The 6 books I fed it

On top of 100+ legendary sales letters, webinars, and email sequences, the skill has working playbooks from six books. Each one has a job.

BOOK #1

BOOK #2
Great Leads
by Michael Masterson & John Forde
There are only six ways to open a piece of copy. This picks the right one for how cold your reader is.
BOOK #3
The 16-Word Sales Letter
by Evaldo Albuquerque
One belief, ten questions. The skeleton of every sales page and VSL the skill writes.
BOOK #4
Expert Secrets
by Russell Brunson
Sell a new opportunity, not an improvement. Epiphany Bridge stories, the three false beliefs, and the Stack.
BOOK #5
Pre-Suasion
by Robert Cialdini
What you say right before the pitch decides how the pitch lands. Plus the 7 principles of influence.
BOOK #6
Propaganda
by Edward Bernays
People buy as members of groups. Sell the circumstance that makes the product necessary, not the product.

The skill knows which book to pull from for which job. Writing a webinar? It leads with Expert Secrets. Cold email? Pre-Suasion. Meta ads? Breakthrough Advertising.

Real talk: these are summaries built for the skill, not the books themselves. If one clicks for you, go buy it. They go way deeper.

How to get the most out of it

  • Be picky early.Your first 3 to 5 runs are where it learns the most. Don't let "fine" slide. Say what's off.
  • Give feedback in the chat, not in the doc. Every fix you make by hand is a lesson it never learns.
  • Say "approved" out loud. That's the trigger that saves everything.
  • Tell it what you love, not just what you hate. Wins teach it faster than complaints.
  • Clean it up when it's wrong."Forget that rule" removes it. "Show my preferences" shows everything it knows.

Do this for a month and you'll start approving drafts on the first pass. That's the whole game.

The Next Step

Guides show you what. AI Builders shows you how.

Inside the community, I walk through every build live, including the stuff that doesn't make it into guides. Regular people (not developers) figuring out AI together, shipping real projects, asking me anything. No fluff, no theory, just the actual work.
